EBT & SNAP
At The Market

We proudly accept SNAP/EBT benefits to help make fresh, local food accessible to everyone in our community. Here's how to use your benefits at the market — and how Fresh Connect doubles your spending power.

01How It Works

Three Steps,
Then Shop

Using SNAP/EBT at the market works just like cash — it starts at the market table.
1

Visit The Market Table

Stop by the market table near the front entrance of the market building — our friendly staff will help you process your SNAP/EBT card.

They can also answer questions about Fresh Connect and other nutrition programs.
2

Get Your Tokens

Buy wooden tokens in $1 and $5 denominations. Every $1 of SNAP equals $1 in tokens — and every $2 earns you an extra $2 Fresh Connect Check.

Vendors can't give cash change for EBT tokens, so plan purchases accordingly.
3

Shop The Market

Spend tokens like cash with any eligible vendor. Look for signage at each booth, or ask at the market table for the list of participating vendors.

Unused tokens? Keep them — they never expire.
$1 $5

No SNAP/EBT? You can still shop with tokens. Use your credit or debit card at the market table to purchase $5 or $10 tokens. There's a small processing fee — and unlike EBT tokens, vendors can give cash change for credit/debit tokens.

02Additional Benefits

Glens Falls Farmers Market Vendor Expectations

Vendor Commitment & Expectations

The Glens Falls Farmers Market is committed to providing a welcoming, high-quality shopping experience for the community. As a vendor, you play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and professionalism of the market. Below are the expectations that all vendors must follow to ensure a smooth and successful season.

1. Attendance & Punctuality
  • Vendors must arrive and be fully set up at least 15 minutes before market opening (8:45 AM for the indoor market, 7:45 AM for the outdoor market).
  • Vendors must remain open for the full market hours (9 AM - 12 PM for winter, 8 AM - 12 PM for summer). Early teardown is not permitted.
  • If you are unable to attend a market date, you must notify the Market Manager at least 48 hours in advance.
  • Repeated absences may result in penalties, reassignment of space, or loss of vending privileges.

2. Vendor Booth & Display Requirements

A well-presented booth enhances the customer experience and market atmosphere. Vendors must adhere to the following guidelines:

Booth Appearance
  • Tables must be covered with a clean, professional tablecloth.
  • Products must be neatly displayed and arranged in a visually appealing manner.
  • Signage must be clear, legible, and reflect accurate pricing and product descriptions.
  • Vendors should maintain a clean and tidy space at all times. Trash and debris must be removed at the end of the market.
Signage Requirements
  • Each vendor is required to display a sign with their business name.
  • Product descriptions and pricing must be clearly visible to customers.
  • Vendors selling food must have all required permits, labels, and ingredient lists available.

3. Workshare Assignments (Mandatory for All Vendors)

To keep the market running smoothly, all vendors must participate in workshare duties. These assignments vary by season and are essential for setting up, maintaining, and breaking down the market space.

Winter Market Workshare
  • Table Setup & Breakdown: Vendors are responsible for moving and storing food court tables using provided carts before and after the market.
  • Signage Placement: Designated vendors must place and remove marketing signs at various locations around the mall.
  • Missed Workshare Penalty: Failure to complete an assigned task will result in a $50 fine per missed workshare (as per market bylaws).
Summer Market Workshare (Details will be provided as needed)
  • Duties include setting up and taking down tents, placing signage, and maintaining shared spaces.
Workshare Swap Policy:
  • If you are unable to fulfill your workshare on a scheduled date, YOU are responsible for finding a replacement.
  • Swaps must be reported to the Market Manager in advance.

4. Market Conduct & Customer Service
  • Vendors must be friendly, professional, and engage with customers.
  • Phones should be used sparingly.
  • Vendors should refrain from excessive socializing that might interfere with customer interactions.
  • No loud music, political discussions, or offensive behavior will be tolerated.

5. Compliance & Enforcement
  • Vendors must follow all local health regulations for food and beverage sales.
  • Any vendor found violating market policies may be subject to warnings, fines, or removal from the market.

By participating in the Glens Falls Farmers Market, all vendors agree to these expectations and policies.

Bring compostable food scraps to the market and drop them in a monitored bucket to be composted by one of the vendors.

This service will continue with our winter market at the Aviation Mall.

Buckets need to be monitored to be sure only compostables are collected. Please talk to the monitor about putting yourself on the schedule to be a volunteer!
